Getting Your xAI API Key
Visit xAI Console
Go to console.x.ai and create an account or sign in.
Create Your API Key
- Find the "API Keys" section in your dashboard
- Click to create a new API key
- Give it a name like "CodinIT"
- Copy your new API key and save it safely
Keep It Secure
Never share your API key or put it where others can see it.

Setting Up Grok in CodinIT
Step 1: Open Project Settings
In your CodinIT project, click the Settings button (⚙️) to open your project configuration.
Step 2: Choose xAI as Your AI Provider
Find AI Provider Settings
Look for the "AI Provider" or "Model" section in your project settings.
Select xAI
Choose "xAI" from the provider dropdown menu.
Enter Your API Key
Paste the API key you got from xAI Console into the API key field.
Pick Your Model
Select which Grok model you want to use (we recommend Grok 3 Fast to start).
Save Your Settings
Click Save to apply your changes.
Step 3: Test Your Connection
Try a Simple Prompt
In your CodinIT chat, try asking: "Help me plan a simple to-do app"
Check the Response
If everything works, you'll get a helpful response from Grok!
Try Reasoning (Optional)
If you chose a Mini model, try: "Think through the steps to build a user login system"
